Iran Press/Iran news: The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, said that the slogan of maximum pressure failed, stressing: "The former idiot had designed a maximum pressure policy to put Iran in a position of weakness to force us to the negotiation table and impose arrogant demands."
In the end, he (Donald Trump) ousted from power with a scandal that both disgraced himself and his country, however, Islamic Iran stood with power and dignity, the leader stated.
Referring to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the leader stressed: "The country's policy regarding interaction with the JCPOA signatories and the JCPOA itself had been explicitly announced, and we would not violate the policy because it had been announced and agreed upon."
"The Americans must lift all sanctions, and then we will return to our commitments. We do not consider the American's promise valid," according to the leader.
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that some Americans are talking about the JCPOA, saying that it should be changed.
He noted: "The situation has changed since 2016 and 2017, while it has not changed in favor of the United States, but in favor of us. Iran has become much stronger since 2015. Hence, if the JCPOA is to be changed, it must be in Iran's interest; We made the sanctions ineffective."
He referred to the current US administration's request from Iran regarding the JCPOA, saying: "If the demands of the US government are met, then your problems are increasing day by day and it is not clear what the fate of the current president will be. We are not in a hurry for the offer either. Yes, we believe we have to take advantage and opportunities, but we will not rush because sometimes the damages are more than the benefits."
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed: "We trusted the Obama administration and made commitments under the JCPOA, they did not fulfill their commitments. On paper, they said the sanctions had been lifted, but they threatened the investors. Their commitments are of no value to us."
