Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called US-led strikes on Syria, a criminal act that is doomed to fail.

Racting to a coordinated missile attack by the US, Britain and France on Syria, the Leader said on Saturday: “I clearly declare that the US president, the French president and the UK prime minister are criminals and have committed a crime.”

On the occasion of the anniversary of the Ordainment of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), senior Iranian officials, ambassadors of Muslim states in Tehran as well as a group of families of martyrs met with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Iran's Supreme Leader added, as they did not benefit from interventions to  Afghanistan and Iraq and Syria, US and allies will not gain any achievements from crimes in Syria.

Ayatollah Khamenei dismissed as lies the claims by the US and other western states that they have helped the fight against terrorism in Syria, and said that the US-led front has rather rescued the ISIL whenever they were trapped.

"They could create such devilish creatures with the money of Saudi Arabia and the like and sent to harm the Iraqi and Syrian nations, but the resistance against the US and its agents could save the country and it will be the same from now on," he added.

Earlier, the Iranian Foreign Minister strongly condemned military strikes by the US, the UK and France against Syria as a violation of international law, warning against the repercussions of such an act of aggression against an independent country.

“The aggression is a flagrant violation of international law and a disregard of Syria’s right to national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” the Iranian Foreign Ministry said in statement released on Saturday.

In the early hours of Saturday, the United States, Britain and France carried out a wave of military strikes against multiple targets in Syria, using an alleged chemical attack near Damascus last week as a pretext to justify the campaign.
