Tabriz (IP) - The spokesman of Iran's government has said that the US-led joint maritime security initiative in the Persian Gulf is just 'window dressing' and 'a propaganda show-off', with no real impact on regional developments.

Iran PressIran news: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Monday, Ali Rabiei said: "Australia does not have a naval force in the region at all and regarding Israel, according to unofficial Western sources, the aim of the regime is simply to spy in the region."

Rabiei added: "Nothing new has occurred, as Britain has already deployed forces to the region and America's ships have been cruising as well."

He emphasized: "There is nothing new because Britain has already been in the area and the US ships have already been in the region."

Rabiei pointedly added: "If the United States wants peace and stability in the region, it should be based on the Hormuz Peace Endeavor; regional countries' security should be ensured by all countries in the region, and Iran can guarantee the security of the region's commercial waterways."
