In another flagrant attempt to interfere in Iraq's internal affairs, the US House of Representatives asked some resistance groups to be sanctioned.

Middle East: According to Iran Press, the US House of Representatives claimed its aims is to sanction terror groups and countries that destabilize Iraq, which US alleges Iran is the main player. Some Iraqi media describes this act as very dangerous one for the security of Iraq.

US congress has already imposed some sanctions on Iraqi resistance groups that played biggest role in fighting and defeating terrorist group ISIS (Daesh). The bill requires the US president impose sanctions on "any foreign person that has the direct purpose or effect of threatening the peace or stability of Iraq" or its government, or who undermines Iraq's democracy or efforts to promote economic reconstruction, political reform and provide humanitarian assistance to its people. The bill also calls on the US president to identify individuals and groups in Iraq that should be included in the list of terrorist organizations to impose sanctions on them.

The Iraqi resistance groups are all a part of the Popular Mobilization Forces that were formed with the Fatwa of Ayatollah Sistani to counter Daesh. Later in 2014, the Popular Mobilization Forces were under command of the Iraqi prime minister and the commander of the armed forces.

Despite that, the US alleges that the Popular Mobilization Forces are affiliated to Iran. The Iraqi authorities have repeatedly warned against the US' interference with their security decisions, but the US keeps pressing them.

Additionally, the Iraqi resistance groups have announced that they consider the presence of the US forces in the post-Daesh era as invasion and if it situation continues, they will treat the US forces like invaders.

The Senate must also approve the draft before it is sent to the White House.

Meanwhile, the UK Ambassador to Iraq, Jonathan Wilks told the Independent on Wednesday that according to UK intelligence, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Emirates were the biggest financial supporters of terrorist groups, including Daesh and Nosra Front, in Iraq. 212/103
