Iran Press/Europe: During the unveiling ceremony, Iran's Cultural Attache in Bosnia Mohammad Hossein Ansari said that Saadi's focus on ethics and rationalism is the reason behind the permanence and universality of his thought from China to the Balkans and Western Europe.
Hosseini said that Saadi's Golestan was the first Persian work that was translated into different languages in Europe in the 17th century.
Munir Drkić, a professor at the Department of Persian Language and Literature at the University of Sarajevo and the translator of Golestan Saadi said: "Bostan and Golestan polish the human heart and make us better people and teach us practical wisdom for everyday life."
Versions of Golestan Saadi have been translated into English, Turkish, French, German, Spanish, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, Polish, and Russian; also Bostan has been translated into Italian.
The first complete translation of Golestan in English was done in 1888 by Sir Richard Francis Burton.
Bostan, in verse, and Golestan in prose, are considered literature masterpieces in Iran and the world that convey pure and practical ethical themes in a very simple and friendly language understandable, universally.
