Matthias Schmale while apologizing to the people of the Gaza Strip, expressed his condolences to the families of the martyrs of the recent attacks by the Israeli regime.
The UNRWA director also stressed that there is no justification for killing civilians at all, adding that the past two weeks have been terrible for Gaza and those living there.
"Israel has not bombed civilian targets, with the exception of a few," Matthias Schmeil claimed in an interview with Israeli Channel 12 television on Monday, justifying the regime's recent invasion of the Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) immediately condemned the UNRWA director's remarks, reminding him that his job is to support the displaced and oppressed people, not to justify the killing of children and the destruction of homes, and demolishing health, educational and social facilities.
