America: According to an Iran Press report, with continued Saudi coalition aggression against Yemeni people, the heads of United Nations subsidiary organizations in a joint statement urged the leadership of Saudi Arabia to end the disastrous war in Yemen.
In the statement, the UN chiefs expressed their concerns over the consequences of Saudi coalition crimes against Yemeni people and the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the country.
Referring to the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres's latest talk with Saudi crown prince Mohammad bin Salman, the statement stressed that the UN feels Riyadh should support efforts to solve the Yemen crisis, and to take practical steps to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.
According to the statement, despite repeated requests by UN officials including UN special envoy for Yemen, Martin Griffiths, to stop the Saudi attacks on Yemen, these attacks are sadly continuing.
Political talks to resolve the Yemeni crisis have so far failed due to lack of cooperation and obstructionism by Saudi Arabia.
The UN has listed Yemen as the world's number one humanitarian crisis, with seven million Yemenis on the brink of famine and cholera causing more than 14,000 deaths and millions displaced.
Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies launched a devastating military campaign against Yemen in March 2015, with the aim of bringing back the unpopular government of former fugitive president, Abd al Rabo Mansour Hadi back to power. 208/ 211 /103
