Two people died and Six others are still missing due to flash floods that hit some parts of northeastern Iran late on Saturday.

Iran PressIran News: Head of North Khorasan Province’s Disaster Mitigation and Management Organization Gholamreza Shafigh has said that heavy rainfall and storms in the northern parts of the province have caused a spate of flash floods, dealing a heavy blow to the infrastructure.

The road between Bojnurd City to some adjoining areas was blocked on Saturday evening.

"Two people died in "Mashad Taraghi" village of Shirvan city," said Shafigh.

Shafigh said that most of the damage was to the road and agriculture sectors.

"Damage assessment teams of the disaster headquarters are in the region and are reviewing the situation," he added.

Recent monsoon rains in dozens of cities have led to the flooding of local rivers and closed roads of villages, he said, adding that efforts to reopen the routes are on the agenda.

According to local residents in the Ghoshkhaneh district of Shirvan, the flood swept away three cars, and about six people, including children, are still unaccounted for.
