Iran news/ Iran Press: Referring to the most sensitive current situation in the region and the world and the necessity of establishing convergence and coordination between the Iranian and Russian armed forces against terrorism, Major General Baqeri said the success of the two armed forces in fighting terrorism in Syria and the defeat of Takfiri terrorists and their supporters in the region demonstrate the determination of both Tehran and Moscow to deal with terrorist threats.

Major General Baqeri emphasized that geopolitical and geo-strategic capabilities of Iran and Russia require the two countries' armed forces to develop their cooperation in a long-term perspective and to manage and plan them within the framework of the Joint Military Commission's agreements.
Top Russian military official presented a report on the process of forming a joint military commission of the two countries and the points agreed upon by the parties.
Referring to the historical ties between Iran and Russia, General Osipov highlighted many areas for cooperation between the two countries.
Top Russian military official also met with the Iranian Navy's top commander, Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi and the two sides talked about interactions at sea in the areas of operations, technical, training, holding tactical naval exercises and anti-piracy exercises.
Admiral Khanzadi said: "We are looking to accelerate and develop cooperation in the two geopolitical fields of the Caspian Sea and the Southern Fleet."
The Iranian Navy commander reminded, as in the past, cooperation with Russia has been developing for some time. Admiral Khanzadi added: "We hope that this relationship will further develop in the interests of collective security, particularly in the Southern waters of Iran."
