Vienna (IP) - The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran said at the 68th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency that while Iran's facilities are only 3% of the number of nuclear facilities in the whole world, more than a fifth of all inspections conducted by the Agency in 2023 were conducted in Iran.

Iran Press/Europe: Mohammad Eslami, Vice President and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said at the 68th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna: "The cooperation of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the Agency continues honestly and extensively; The number of inspectors appointed by the Agency in Iran cannot be compared with any other country.

Eslami added: The implementation of the inherent and sovereign rights of the Islamic Republic of Iran regarding the cancellation of the appointment of the Agency's inspectors has been carried out under the Comprehensive Safeguard Agreement. Insisting and exerting pressure on Iran in this regard means ignoring the sovereign rights of countries and can cause unjustified heresy, so it is unacceptable.

The Vice President of Iran emphasized that Iran's voluntary actions in the framework of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) were in exchange for the lifting of cruel sanctions. What is followed today by political and psychological pressure is to force Iran to implement measures within the JCPOA framework, regardless of the obligations related to the lifting of sanctions. JCPOA should not be implemented at the expense of only one member.

Eslami explained: The agency's verification and monitoring activities on the construction and production of non-nuclear items are only foreseen within the framework of the JCPOA. Following the illegal unilateral withdrawal of the United States and non-compliance with commitments by the three European governments and the European Union, the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on its rights under Articles 26 and 36 of the JCPOA and the Strategic Action Law of the Iranian Parliament, has stopped implementing measures beyond the Comprehensive Safeguard Agreement.

The head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization reminded: This conference is being held while we are witnessing serious crises in the international scene. According to its constitution, the agency should play a role to reduce tension and increase interactions and cooperation to improve the quality of life of all the people of the world.

Eslami added: member governments are expected to act with good faith and maximum responsibility. Iran is ready to interact with all member governments to achieve these lofty goals. 204
