Iran’s Intelligence Minister, Mahmoud Alawi, has said: "The enemy targeted Iran's economy by hitting the transit hub of Chabahar".

Iran news: In a speech in the northern province of Alborz on Tuesday, condemning the recent deadly terrorist attack in the country’s southeastern port city of Chabahar which martyred and injured more than 30 people, Iran’s Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alawi said the enemy planned the attack with the aim of hitting the area’s economy, according to Iran Press report.  

He further referred to the country’s campaign on terrorism and said over the past 5 years, a large number of terrorist acts have been foiled by the country’s intelligence forces.

On Thursday December 06, a vehicle laden with explosives went off close to a police headquarters in Chabahar, in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.

The terrorist behind the wheel was seeking to force his way into the police post, but failed to do so as local security forces quickly intervened.

Two police officers martyred and 33 other people sustained injuries in the car bomb attack, which also killed the bomber.

The so-called Ansar al-Furqan terrorist group later claimed responsibility for the assault.

Chabahar's exemption from economic sanctions now places this port at the center of the attention of the international community, so that Chabahar has become an international place.

"A comprehensive developmental move begun in Chabahar a long time ago, and the process does not grind to a halt with a blind terror attack," said Iran's Judiciary Chief Sadeq Amoli Larijani on Monday at Supreme Judicial Authorities Meeting. 208/ 211 / 103
