Iran's minster of culture and Islamic guidance, Seyyed Abbas Salehi, and Japan's ambassador to Tehran, Hiroyasu Kobayashi , have stressed on expansion of cultural cooperation between Tehran and Tokyo.

According to an Iran Press report, in a meeting on Sunday between Iran's minister of culture and Japan's ambassador to Tehran , both men agreed to expand cultural and diplomatic relations between Tehran and Tokyo.

The  minister of culture Salehi, referred to  cinema, music, the arts , theatre , writing and literature ,  translations, and emphasised that both countries can boost cooperation in all of these cultural areas, with the aim of "bringing closer together the two great Asian civilizations of Iran and Japan".

In further remarks, Salehi said the Japanese embassy in Tehran has been very active in the cultural field, and has been involved in many different cultural activities.  Salehi said Iran is ready to cooperate with Japan in any of these cultural activities.

For his part the Japanese ambassador to Tehran, Hiroyasu Kobayashi, pointed out that during the Japanese foreign minister's visit to Tehran in 2015,  the Iran-Japan  cooperation council was set up,  and following this, six specialized working groups were created, including the working group on sports and culture.  

َAlso, Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif in a meeting with Japanese Deputy Foreign Minister in Tehran discussed regional and international issues.

Mohammad Javad Zarif who received Takeo Mori referred to good ties between the two countries in various fields. Zarif also stressed developing economic cooperation between Iran and Japan.

Last year, Kobayashi said, the second meeting of Iran-Japan  cooperation council was held, and both sides discussed in detail the cooperation between Tehran and Tokyo with regards to sporting and cultural matters.
