Tehran (IP) - The opening ceremony of the Computer Games Quality Monitoring Center and the unveiling of the 8th Iran Video Games Champions Cup poster was held on Sunday evening with the presence of Iran's Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance.

Iran PressIran news: Mohammad-Mahdi Esmaili said that today, computer games are considered more than a leisure time activity, noting that last year's survey showed that 34 million in the country play computer games, and 5 million of them are professional players who spend 31 hours a week playing.

Highlighting computer games as an opportunity, Esmaili said: "We must turn the important flow of computer games into an opportunity in cultural governance."

The minister of culture called on the National Foundation of Computer Games officials to focus on this field and emphasized: "At the National Foundation of Computer Games, first of all, we are looking for the production of Iranian computer games."

"Then, we are seriously following the issue of ranking; online systems have been designed for this purpose, so that parents stay up-to-date with the games," he concluded.
