Iran Press/Iran News: Referring to the historic and cultural commonalities as well as the long history of relations between the two countries, Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani cited sanctions and terrorism as two of America's strategies against independent states, adding that by working together to eliminate these two threats, new horizons of progress could be drawn and realized, relying on the indigenous capability of the countries in the region.
During the meeting with Subrahmanyam Jaishankar on Monday afternoon, Shamkhani added: "Today, terrorism and extremism are the most common threats to all countries in the region. By continuing our joint efforts and developing regional mechanisms, we can prevent foreigners from intervening in the region which usually takes place under the pretext of the fight against terrorism."
Noting the second session of Regional Security Dialogue in Tehran, the Secretary of SNSC stated that the countries of the region and Afghanistan's neighbors are on the same page to assist the Afghan government in fighting against terrorism and pursue peace talks with different groups.
In this meeting, the Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar expressed satisfaction with the visit to Iran and added that Iran-India joint cooperation in the development of Chabahar port and creation of a new infrastructure in the field of energy and trade, the transit of goods and so on will have a significant impact on the region's economic prosperity and the improvement of its security.
