Tehran (IP) - The 10th edition of Arbaeen World Prize is to be held with works from 42 countries having been sent so far to the secretariat of the event, stated the secretary of the festival.

Arbaeen, observed 40 days after Ashura, commemorates the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions in the Battle of Karbala.

The occasion is marked annually in the form of one of the largest annual religious gatherings in the world, with millions participating in processions globally to honor Imam Hussein's (AS) sacrifices for justice and faith.

Mostafa Hosseini told reporters on Saturday that the opening ceremony will be held on Wednesday, January 15 with the participation of guests from Iran and other Islamic countries including Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq, Oman, and Indonesia.  

Hosseini said that the works sent to the international sector of the festival came from a vast geographical scope, from Europe to North America and Asia.

"Last year, we received 12,000 works, which this year has reached 17,000 works due to the overwhelming welcome from the participants. This year, we have seen a significant increase, in terms of both quantity and quality. Some of the works submitted have been created at a superb level, which be ranked first to third," he explained. 

In addition to sections such as film, virtual space products, and books, a new section, Arbaeen music has been added to the prize to provide an opportunity to examine musical works related to Arbaeen occasion.
