47 killed, wounded in car bomb attack in Ghazni province of Afghanistan

A car bomb attack killed and wounded at least 47 people in South-eastern Ghazni province of Afghanistan, the provincial government said.

Iran Press/Asia: According to a statement released by Provincial Governor’s Office, the militants detonated a Humvee Armored Personnel Carrier in Saqafat area of Ghazni city at around 4:40 am local time.

The statement further added that the attack which targeted the 703 Special Unit of Afghan intelligence, killed 7 people and wounded at least 40 others.

The explosion also damaged many homes as far as 2 kilometers away from the site of the explosion, the statement said, adding that 8 of the wounded individuals are in critical condition.

The Taliban group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Meanwhile, the Taliban group reacted to the signing of an agreement between Abdullah Abdullah and Ashraf Ghani, calling it a repeat of the past failed experience.

Suhail Shaheen, a spokesperson for the political office of the Taliban in Qatar, said ‘Things happening in Kabul are a repeat of the previous failed experience.’
