Iran Press/ Middle East: A parliamentary delegation from Iran, headed by Abbas Golroo, Vice President of the Iran-Syria Parliamentary Friendship Group, met with the Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mikdad in Damascus Thursday to review bilateral relations between the two countries.
In the meeting, Mikdad voiced appreciation of the Syrian government, and people for the important role played by Iran at all political, military, and economic levels to support Syria in the fight against terrorism.
“Those who defeated ISIS and other terrorist organizations are the Syrian, Iranian, Russian and Resistance forces from Iraq and Lebanon, whose blood was mixed with the soil of this land to eradicate the terrorist organizations supported by an ominous coalition which was fighting against everything in the region except the terrorists,” said Mikdad.
The Syrian foreign minister said that his country was proud of having ties with Iran, stressing that economic and cultural relations should be improved.
The two sides reviewed the recent presidential elections in Syria and Iran, which were a deep embodiment of the democratic values in which the two countries' peoples believe.
Discussing the ongoing negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program, Mikdad praised the wisdom and strength of the Iranian leadership and its keenness to defend the interests and rights of its people in the face of all pressure, reiterating Syria’s support for Iran in these negotiations.
