The U.S. military launched fresh airstrikes across Yemen overnight and early Tuesday, targeting the capital, Sana'a, and the northern province of Sa'ada. Meanwhile, the Yemeni Army shot down a U.S. drone.

The strikes mark another escalation in the ongoing conflict. The U.S. has ramped up military action to stop Yemeni Army offensives against the Israeli regime in support of the Gazan people and raising concerns about a broader regional confrontation.

 

The big picture:

U.S. airstrikes have targeted Sa'ada province, including Majz and Sahar districts, in at least 15 raids. Mount Nabi Shuaib in Sana'a province was also targeted 5 times. Yemeni officials say U.S. bombings have killed at least 61 people and injured more than 140 since March 15.

 

State of Play:

The Yemeni Ansarallah movement has vowed continued resistance, striking Israeli-bound vessels in the Red Sea and even targeting U.S. warships in retaliation for the U.S.-backed Israeli genocide in Gaza.

The Israeli genocidal war on Gaza since October 2023 has led to the massacre of over 50,000 people, including about 20,000 children.
