Tehran (IP) - Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei condemned Israel’s recent actions in Gaza, Lebanon, and Palestine, warning that any aggression against Iran would be met with a decisive response.

Why it matters:

Tensions in the region are at a boiling point, with Israel's continued attacks on Gaza and U.S.-led attacks on Yemen.

The big picture:

Ayatollah Khamenei denounced Israel as a "criminal entity" that must be uprooted from Palestine. He blamed the U.S. and Western governments for supporting Israel’s targeted assassinations and broader military actions. The Iranian leader described Israel as the only hostile proxy force in West Asia, acting on behalf of colonial powers.

What he's saying:

Leader of the Islamic Revolution: “The Westerners accuse the zealous youths of the regional nations of being proxies. I would like to say that there is only one proxy force in this region which is the corrupt usurping [Israeli] regime."
"Israel is committing genocide, and if given the opportunity, it will invade other countries’ territories, just as it invaded Syria as the proxy force of the colonizers."
"The bloodshed in Gaza, Lebanon, and Palestine has made the people’s lives bitter in Ramadan."
“If the enemies are thinking of stirring any sedition inside the country, the Iranian nation will respond to them.”
"If they commit any wicked, they will undoubtedly face a strong counterblow."
"This criminal gang [Israel] must be uprooted from Palestine and it will be uprooted. Everyone must strive to eliminate this evil entity from the region."
