Tehran(IP) - According to the agreement made with the Iraqi government, a special passport will be issued for Iranian pilgrims of Arbaeen which is valid for 5 years.

Iran PressIran news:  The first coordination meeting with the Iraqi government regarding the Arbaeen pilgrimage was held on Wednesday at the Iran Ministry of Interior headquarters.

Deputy Minister of Interior, Seyyed Majid Mirahmadi, said: The will of the two governments of Iran and Iraq is to resolve the challenges of the past years, and in this regard, 21 issues were examined, of which the transportation and health were part of it.

Mir Ahmadi emphasized: This was the first Arbaeen coordination meeting between the two countries and hopefully all issues will be discussed.

Deputy Minister of Interior said that non-Iranian pilgrims who will travel to Iraq from inside Iran will leave the border from the determined border crossing.

Mehdi Hadi Ali Al-Fukiki, the senior adviser to the Iraqi Minister of Interior, also said: "Today, we arrived in Iran to review the journey of Arbaeen pilgrims and we agreed on many issues."

Pointing to the identification of pilgrims' he said: It was also decided to prepare documents for non-Iranians and Iraqis living in Iran for the journey.

Al-Fukiki added: Iran's Shiites are interested in the Arbaeen procession, and Iraqi Shiites also welcome them and the desire of both sides is the comfort of pilgrims' pilgrimage.

After the 3-hour expert meeting, the Iraqi delegation also met Interior Minister Ahmed Vahidi.

In this meeting, the senior adviser of the Iraqi Interior Minister emphasized: "The media will start creating divisions as Arbaeen is approaching, but fortunately, people are aware and the Arbaeen ceremony will be held well."

In the end, the Minister of Interior, Ahmed Vahidi, also pointed to the cultural, political, and social importance of Arbaeen and said: "It is the honor of the Iraqi nation to host this event.

Vahidi added: Today, the relations between the two governments of Iran and Iraq are very good, although the arms of the Iraqi nation are open to pilgrims from all over the world.
