Simorgh supercomputer

Tehran (IP) - Simorgh supercomputer with a capacity of half teraflop was inaugurated at Iran's Amir Kabir University of Technology.

Iran PressIran news: Vahid Yazdanian, director of the Iranian Institute of Communication and Information Technology, said: "The capacity of this supercomputer is half teraflop, which provides processing services for various research institutions."

Teraflop is a unit of computing speed equal to one million million floating-point operations per second.

Yazdanian stating that we started the Simorgh supercomputer project 18 months ago, added: "The Amir Kabir University of Technology has had a successful experience designing and implementing supercomputers since 10 years ago." 

He added: "This supercomputer has been for processes less than teraflop, but in the Simorgh project since this project's technical knowledge was available at Amir Kabir University, we implemented this project jointly."

Yazdanian concluded: "The capacity of this supercomputer will reach one teraflop in one month."
