Tehran(IP)-The first vice president of the Islamic Republic of Iran said the Shalamcheh-Basra railway is so important that it can change trade relations in the West Asian region.

Iran PressIran news: The implementation of the 32 km Shalamcheh to Basra railway project will begin today (Saturday) in a ceremony attended by the first vice president of Iran and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia al-Sudani at the border of Shalamcheh (South of Iran).

The railway connection between Iran and Iraq is a strategic event in the West Asia region.

If this connection extends to Syria, Lebanon, and the Mediterranean, it has the capacity to neutralize the American sanctions against the resistance front, Therefore this connection is one of the American red lines in West Asia and it has been repeatedly stonewalling it.

The establishment of the Shalamcheh to Basra railway is not specific to the political and governmental relations between Iran and Iraq, but this railway line can be effective in accelerating the trade or export of Iran to Iraq and public transportation between the citizens of the two countries, especially in the crowd Arbaeen walks.

In this regard and according to Iran press; Mohammad Mokhber, the first vice president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said on Saturday, before leaving for Shalamcheh to start the construction of the Shalamcheh-Basra railway, that the Shalamcheh-Basra railway is a strategic plan for Iran and Iraq and development in the West Asian region, which in addition to connecting the railways two countries can complete the international transportation routes.

Mokhber added: "In line with the policy of strengthening relations with neighbors and after two years of continuous follow-up, this important path will be completed with the cooperation of the two countries in the next two years at most."

The first vice president of the Islamic Republic of Iran assessed the importance of connecting the railway lines of Iran to Iraq and its extension to the Mediterranean Sea after several decades and said: With the completion of the Shalamcheh to Basra railway, in addition to the tremendous leap in trade and commerce between the two countries, other countries located in the east of the world can access the western half and the countries of the Mediterranean basin from Iran's railway lines.
