Tehran (IP) - Iranian deputy minister of Road and Urban Development said that seven bilateral agreements were signed between Iran and Azerbaijan, aiming to improve railway transportation between the two countries.

Iran Press/Iran News: In an interview with Iran Press on the sidelines of a meeting between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan at the Ministry of Road and Urban Development in Tehran, Saeed Rasoli said that Azerbaijan's head of railway attended Iran’s railway building and discussed the details of the agreement.

To speed up railway transportation, two sides have examined all the details and dimensions of the Astara railway terminal, which aims to increase cargo transfer in the north to the south corridor, he added.

Rasoli said that his Azerbaijani counterpart was interested in increasing cooperation and activating north to south corridor so that cargo owners could improve their export and import based on this opportunity.

Pointing to the increase in the number of trade between Iran and Azerbaijan by 25% amid coronavirus pandemic, Rasouli stated that our cooperation with neighboring countries like Turkey has increased. An agreement has been signed to activate transits.

Rasouli expressed hope that Iran-Azerbaijan's collaboration in the railway increases and Iran benefits from its unique geographical position.
