Russia rejects Israeli report on strategic bombers over Iran

The Russian Ministry of Defense has categorically rejected the report by an Israeli military website claiming that Moscow used Iran's airspace to reach Syria, local media reported.

Iran Press/Europe: It is fabricated, baseless, and inconsistent with reality, RIA Novosti quoted a ministry official saying on Wednesday.

The Israeli military intelligence website DEBKAfile had alleged that Russia's strategic Tu-22M bombers flew over Iran to carry out military missions in Syria in response to the US-Israeli military cooperation against the Arab country.

In 2017, Russia used the Tupolev Tu-22M which is a supersonic, variable-sweep wing, long-range strategic and maritime strike bomber to attack the terrorist group Daesh in Syria.
