Iran Press/ Iran news: Speaking at the ceremony of receiving the credentials of the new South Korean ambassador to Tehran Yun Kang-Hyeon on Tuesday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said: "Iran and South Korea have very good relations, which have faced problems in recent years."
Rouhani, stating that the two countries had excellent trade and banking relations in the past and South Korea was involved in many important Iranian projects, added: "Due to illegal and oppressive US sanctions, relations between the two countries faced problems that are needed to be solved as soon as possible."
"Despite the promises made by South Korea, the banking and financial problems between the two countries remain. We are still in trouble," he said.
Rouhani stressed: "Iran's use of its financial reserves in South Korean banks is a clear right of Iran."
According to Rouhani, the financial problem between Iran and South Korea has had a very bad impact on the Iranian people's trust in South Korea, because, during the difficult conditions of the coronavirus pandemic the Iranian people could not use their properties in Korean banks.
The new South Korean ambassador to Tehran also had said in the meeting that he is well aware of the discouragement of his Iranian friends from the relations between Tehran and Seoul: "Today, I have a special mission to do my best to strengthen bilateral relations."
The new South Korean ambassador in Tehran also said: "South Korea will not waste time and we are preparing the conditions and preparing for the further development of bilateral relations with Iran."
