Iran Press/ Iran News: In a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday evening, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, described the two countries' relations as a model for other neighbors and called for the speedy implementation of Iran-Turkey agreements, especially in trade and banking cooperation.
Rouhani also called the fight against terrorism in the region an important issue, adding that terrorist groups could pose a great threat to the region.
In another part of the conversation, referring to the crisis in the Nagorno-Karabakh region and the need to maintain the security of Iran's border cities, the Iranian president said that war is not the solution and should be resolved through dialogue and negotiation.
Rouhani noted that Iran and Turkey, as two powerful countries in the region, as well as Russia, can help establish peace and stability in the region, and that continued cooperation between the three countries is essential to resolving the Syrian crisis.
The Turkish president also called Iran a good friend and neighbor of Turkey and said that Turkey would continue to support Iran in the face of US unilateral sanctions and would make every effort to develop trade and economic relations as in the past.
Erdogan called cooperation with Iran in the fight against terrorism an important factor in establishing peace and security in the region and stressed the need for continued cooperation.
The Turkish President also expressed hope that Iran-Turkey cooperation in the Nagorno-Karabakh crisis would lead to a solution to the crisis through dialogue and the return of peace and tranquility to the region.
