Iran Press/ Iran News: Gholam Hussein Ejei made the comment in a meeting with judiciary staff in South Khorasan Province, located in eastern Iran.
He said that the rioters will receive a strong and firm response because they have disturbed the security of people, disrupted their livelihood, and insulted their sanctities, adding that there will be no mercy for all those who have carried out these actions and are the main culprits. But anyone, who has been deceived, committed no crimes, is regretful of what has been done, and will make a commitment not to repeat their actions again, will be forgiven.
The judiciary chief said that enemies are trying to exploit the existing weaknesses to progress their own agenda and prevent Iran from making developments.
Considering these conditions, he added, everybody should be vigilant more than before in order to not be trapped by the hybrid warfare waged by enemies and their attempts to deceive public opinion.
Ejei also said that the current situation should be used as an opportunity to identify management failures so that riots can be turned into opportunities for progress and growth.
The judiciary chief, during his trip to South Khorasan Province, also held a meeting with students of Birjand University.
He told the students that protesters are separated from rioters and that enemies should not be allowed to deceive the youth and adversely affect their thoughts.
He said that university students have the right to raise their demands, protest, and criticize, but they should be aware of how to proceed in order to avoid mistakes.
Unrest broke out in Iran after the death of young Kurdish woman Mahsa Amini on September 16.
She died in hospital three days after she collapsed at a police station.
Protests began over her death but soon turned into riots and violence that lasted for more than a month and resulted in vandalism.
Iranian officials have blamed the riots on the US, the UK, Saudi Arabia, and Israel, as well as the media outlets they support, including London-based Iran International News Network which the Iranian intelligence has designated as a terrorist organization.
Tehran has said that "Iran International" agents will be prosecuted.
