Iran Press/ West Asia: As cited by Al Jazeera, Lapid stated, “Without the return of the kidnapped individuals (Israeli hostages in Gaza) and the displaced to their homes, there will be no rebirth.”
Addressing Netanyahu and his cabinet, Lapid emphasized, “The greatest catastrophe that has occurred for Israelis since the establishment of Israel, which has troubled them, happened during your tenure.”
Previously, former Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman also criticized Netanyahu and his cabinet on the anniversary of Operation "Al-Aqsa Flood," asserting that Netanyahu and the decision-makers in Israel have yet to take responsibility for the failure in what he termed the worst catastrophe in their history.
The Palestinian resistance, led by Hamas, launched a surprise operation on October 7, 2023, targeting military bases and Israeli settlements near the Gaza Strip, capturing numerous Israeli soldiers and civilians in the process.
Following the commencement of Operation "Al-Aqsa Flood," Israeli officials believed they could eliminate the resistance groups and occupy the Gaza Strip within days, launching extensive airstrikes across various parts of the region on the seventh day of October.
Frustrated by their inability to achieve their objectives through airstrikes, the occupiers resorted to committing further atrocities. On October 27, 2023, they initiated a large-scale ground invasion of Gaza, aiming to destroy Hamas and overthrow its governance, while also seeking to retrieve the Israeli hostages.
Concurrently, they continued aerial and artillery attacks to this day.As the first anniversary of Operation "Al-Aqsa Flood" approaches, it highlights a year in which the Israeli regime has faced significant setbacks.
Not only did it fail to achieve its stated objectives, but its numerous atrocities also revealed its true nature to the world. In contrast, the resistance axis has gained crucial achievements in the region, most notably bringing the Palestinian issue back to the forefront of global attention.
