The Iranian Navy's top commander, Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi, has said the Iranian navy is carefully monitoring the movement and activities of US navy in the Persian Gulf, and our vigilance will not allow any intrusion or adventurism in Iran's territorial waters.

Iran Press/ Iran newsSpeaking to reporters in Tehran on Saturday, Iranian Navy's top commander, Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi reiterated that the Iranian navy has an authoritative presence in the seas, the shores and the skies of the Persian Gulf, closely monitoring activities and keeping a watchful eye on the region. 

According to an Iran Press report, Admiral Khanzadi stressed that naval equipment is constantly being developed and upgraded to keep pace with technological progress and latest technology.

Stressing the fact that Iran's territorial waters are well secured, Rear Admiral Khanzadi explained that the Iranian navy is not only responsible for the security of the Persian Gulf, Strait of Hormoz and the Sea of Oman, but other countries which use the waters of the Persian Gulf also benefit from this security.

Rear Admiral Khanzadi pointedly added: "Everyone should know that the security of the Persian Gulf is part and parcel of the security of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and these two are interrelated and intertwined."

"In order to maintain security of regional waters, there is no need for presence of foreign forces, since they do nothing but disturb the security of the entire region," Khanzadi added.

On the same day, Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi said a  domestically made submarine is also expected to come into service on 29 January.

The 527-ton Fatih submarine is a semi-heavy under surface vessel whose weight at depth increases to 593 tons.

The submarine is equipped with an advanced sonar system for identifying enemy vessels and uses a missile defense system.

On Dec 19, 2018, Rear Admiral Khanzadi, has emphasized the independence of Iran's Navy, saying all the equipment and hardware used by the Iranian navy is  domestically made.

He added that Iran has dispatched some 58 naval flotillas to the Gulf of Aden, in the past few years, particularly in the last year. 203/103
