Tehran (IP)- Millions of train passengers across the UK will likely face disrupted journeys this week as nearly 55,000 rail workers go on strike.

Iran PressEurope: Network Rail, several train companies, London Underground, and buses in the capital will be hit by industrial action due to long-running disputes over pay, jobs, and conditions.

However, strikes by bus workers across Cheshire, Lancashire, Manchester, and Merseyside will be suspended. At the same time, GMB members vote on a new pay offer, the union and Arriva North West said on Wednesday.

On Thursday, members of the Rail, Maritime, and Transport (RMT) union at Network Rail (NR), workers from 14 train operators, Transport Salaried Staffs’ Association (TSSA) union members at seven companies, and Unite members at NR will strike. This will have a knock-on effect on rail services on Friday morning.

This is due to a separate dispute between RMT and Transport for London (TfL), which will see around 10,000 Tube and 400 Overground workers walk out.

Meanwhile, swathes of west London will struggle to make journeys by bus as 1,600 drivers across seven depots go on strike.

The disruption follows a summer of repeated strikes over a long-running dispute between unions and Network Rail over pay and working conditions.
