Iran Press/ Asia: According to the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the quake occurred at a depth of 10km, which is so close to the surface, causing buildings to move violently. One person was reported injured, and several homes were damaged by the large tremor.
Peru’s capital of Lima was also the victim of a tremor earlier in the day. A 5.6-magnitude earthquake shook parts of the city and its surrounding areas. Authorities have reported that at least one person was injured and damage caused to three homes.
The Geophysical Institute of Peru (IGP) said that the quake occurred at around 5:27 am on Friday, January 7, at a depth of 116km. Its epicenter was located 19km to the northeast of Lima.
