Tehran (IP)- Mohammad-Bagher Qalibaf, the speaker of the parliament, says: Iran's nuclear program is an excuse in the hands of the enemy, and the enemy's goal is to hinder Iran's progress.

Iran PressIran news: Speaking at the ceremony for the Anniversary of "13th Aban" called Student Day, Qalibaf said: "Doesn't the Zionist regime have more than 100 nuclear warheads today?" Don't some countries in the region that are treated friendly and peaceful do not have nuclear warheads? We have said many times that we are not looking for nuclear weapons but they used Iran's civilian nuclear program as an excuse to not allow the progress and independence of this great nation.

"Our most important priority today is solving economic problems. Solving economic problems is like fighting America," said Qalibaf speaking in the ceremony.

The 13th of Aban is the anniversary of the 1979 takeover of the US embassy in Tehran, which is marked every year with nationwide rallies.

Aban 13 (November 4th) marks three important events: The anniversary of the takeover of the former US embassy in Tehran by Muslim students following Imam Khomeini's path (1979) because of destructive policy of US to Iran Revolution and espionage activity of the US embassy under cover of diplomatic, the anniversary of the exile of the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini by former regime of Pahlavi (1964), and the Student Day (marking the day in 1978 on which several students taking part in a protest rally against the Shah were martyred.)

The rallies of Aban 13th are the National Day of Fighting Global Arrogance in Iran, in which Iranians gather to hold the anniversary every year.
