Tehran (IP) - Iran's Deputy Oil Minister Ahmad Asadzadeh announced the presence of President Raisi in the seventh edition of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum Summit (GECF) in Algeria.

Iran PressIran news: Iran's Deputy Oil Minister for "Trade and International Affairs" Ahmad Asadzadeh said that Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi will participate at the 7th meeting of the heads of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).

Iranian President who will travel to Algeria at the head of a high-ranking delegation will deliver a speech at the summit.

Iranian deputy oil minister said: Iran's stance on the strategies and policies to protect the collective interests of GECF members, promoting cooperation of members in the development of the natural gas industry, the role of natural gas in providing energy security, and the need to develop investment in this industry and bilateral meetings with heads of member's country are the main programs of the president's visit."

Asadzadeh added: "This meeting provides the opportunity to participate in constructive discussions and share the views of members about recent developments and prospects in the field of energy and especially natural gas."

Iran's Deputy Oil Minister pointed out that before holding the summit, meetings with the participation of oil ministers including Iranian oil minister Jawad Owji will take place to prepare final documents as well as the final statement aummit.

He further continued: "On the sidelines of this summit, important events such as the official opening of the GECF Gas Research Institute head office in Algeria, and the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding with the African Energy Commission and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia will be held.

He stated that the GECF Gas Research Institute is one of the important achievements of the cooperation between the members, which has a scientific and technical committee with the presence of the member countries.

The GECF summit is held in one of the member countries once every two years to consolidate the political position of the forum in the international energy field and emphasize the cooperation between the members in line with the objectives of the forum. 

This summit will be held on the second day of March in the Democratic Republic of Algeria with the presence of Presidents and senior officials of the member countries.

Doha (Qatar) in 2011, Moscow Federation (Russia) in 2013, Tehran (Islamic Republic of Iran) in 2015, Santa Cruz (Bolivia) in 2017, Malabo (Equatorial Guinea) in 2019, Doha (Qatar) in 2022 respectively hosted the last 6 meetings.

It is worth mentioning that Iran will host the 8th meeting of heads of gas exporting countries in 2027.
