Erbil (IP) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Erbil on Thursday as part of his official three-day visit to Iraq. This marks Pezeshkian's first foreign trip since taking office, aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the two neighboring countries.

Iran Press/West Asia: Upon his arrival in Erbil on Thursday morning, he was officially welcomed by the head of the Iraqi Kurdistan region Nechirvan Barzani.

On this visit, President Pezeshkian met with Iraq’s Prime Minister, President, and some other officials and discussed key bilateral issues. In addition to formal meetings, the president is also expected to sign several cooperation agreements that will enhance collaboration between the two nations.

Pezeshkian will also engage with Iraqi-based Iranian business leaders and expatriates, signaling a focus on fostering economic relationships and supporting the Iranian diaspora in Iraq. 

This visit underscores the importance of Iran-Iraq relations and highlights efforts to deepen both political and economic cooperation.
