Washington - (IP) The Head of the Interests Section of Iran in Washington says in case the proposal in the US Congress is finalized, the travel of all American citizens, including Iranians with U.S. citizenship to Iran will be prohibited and illegal.

Iran PressAmerica: Mehdi Atefat shared with Iran Press that more than 2.5 million Iranians live in the U.S. and Canada, and more than 90% of them have the citizenship of these two countries.

Atefat added that banning travel to Iran, in addition to the United States, is currently being reviewed and probably approved in Canada.

"Every year, hundreds of thousands of these people travel to Iran to visit their families and return without any problems, and if this plan is approved in the American Congress, it will be a disaster and it will be a problem for Iranians living in the United States and Canada," stated Iranian diplomat.

In addition to Iranians, every year 8 to 10 thousand citizens of other countries from the US, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and other countries visit Iran's Office of the Interest Section in Washington and receive visas, according to the Iranian official.

Some peace-seeking groups have started activities to prevent the approval of Congress, and Iran's Office of the Interest Section in Washington supports these actions.
