Sistan and Baluchestan (IP) - 2.7 tons of narcotics have been confiscated in the southern borders of Sistan and Baluchestan Province, Iran's border police commander announced.

Iran PressIran News: Brigadier-General Ahmad-Ali Goodarzi stated that border guards of Sistan and Baluchestan Province had been informed about the activity of some drug smugglers who were planning to transfer significant amounts of opiates into Iran.

He noted that the border guards had identified one of the opiate drug smuggling ringleaders who he been trying to transfer illicit drugs into Iran.

General Goodarzi highlighted that the smugglers intended to transfer the stored narcotics by means of high-speed vessels and the border guards observed the smugglers in Chabahar naval base and impeded their ominous goals.

He pointed out that border guards confiscated 2.7 tons of narcotics, including 1,300 kilograms of opium and 1,400 kilograms of hashish during the operation.
