Iran Press/ Iran news: The Commander of Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani and the second-in-command of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were martyred by the US air raid in Baghdad, Iraq's capital.
United States Department of Defense released a statement, saying the US ordered an airstrike that martyred the commander of Iran's Quds Force, Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani, at Baghdad International Airport.
Lieutenant General Soleimani was awarded by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as the first Iranian military official to hold Iran’s highest military order, the Order of Zulfaqar after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Lieutenant General Soleimani has been named in the list of top Global Thinkers in the defense and security in Foreign Policy (FP)’s 2019.
