Belgorod (IP) - A literary meeting was held in Belgorod Serbia to commemorate the Iranian grand Poet Hafez with the participation of writers, poets, members of the literary society, students, and those who love Persian literature.

Iran Press/ West Asia: Khajeh Shamsul Din Mohammad Shirazi, known as Hafez, is one of the greatest poets in Persian culture and literature, who was born in Iran in the 7th century AH; Mehr 20 in the Persian calendar (October 11) is named after the world-famous poet to commemorate him.  

Delivering a speech at the commemoration ceremony, Amir Pourpezeshk, Iran's Cultural Attache in Serbia, called Hafez's poetry an inspiring source for other grand Iranian and foreign poets.

He considered Hafez's constant association with the holy Qur'an and his attention to spiritual issues in manifested in his poetic metaphorical language, as well as Hafez's familiarity with music, as the reason behind the immortality of his poems.   

The Iranian Persian Professor of Belgorod University Saeed Safari admired the readability of Hafez's poems in terms of meaning, as a brilliant feature of his poetry, making some examples of his use of such figures of speech as simile, metaphor, alteration, and rhythm in the poems.  

Still, Alexander Dragovic the Serbian literary researcher and translator elaborated on the mystic dimension of Hafez's poetry and the reason behind his use of some mystic words such as wine and bowl. 

Milosevic, the President of the Serbia Literature Assembly, then recited one of Hafez's poems translated into Serbian language and highlighted the sublime literary and poetic status of Hafez among the world's grand poets.

The event was organized with the cooperation of the Office of Iran's Cultural Attach in Serbia, the Serbian Literary Association, and the Persian Literature Studies Department of Belgorod University
