Speaker of the United States House of Representatives More than half Americans favour Trump impeachment Nancy Pelosi

Speaker of the United States House of Representatives accused US President of attempting to bribe Ukraine.

Iran Press/America: Speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi accused Trump of attempting to bribe Ukraine to harm the electoral fortunes of one of his political rivals, Joe Biden.

According to Guardian, In recent days, Democrats have moved away from the language of “quid pro quo” and toward the term “bribery” to describe the alleged efforts by the president’s team to pressure Ukraine to announce an investigation into Biden and the 2016 election.

“I am saying what the president has admitted to and said it’s perfect, I say it’s perfectly wrong,” Pelosi asserted. “It’s bribery.”

Asked to define the bribery in this instance, the House speaker said, “The bribe is to grant or withhold military assistance in return for a public statement of a fake investigation into the elections. That’s bribery.”

The impeachment inquiry has been going on for more than a month - but all previous hearings were private, with reports based on leaks and sources speaking to the media.

Wednesday's public hearings were the first time the public heard from witnesses directly and a chance for Democrats and Republicans to win over voters.

This has the potential to be a major twist. Although there have been reports of Sondland's direct line to the president, there has yet to be evidence tying Trump directly to the alleged quid pro quo.
