Tehran (IP) – Receiving the Head of Iraq's Kurdistan Region, the Speaker of Iran's Parliament stressed the development of industrial, agricultural, technological, and academic cooperation between Iraq and Iran.

Iran PressIran news: In a meeting with the head of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani on Tuesday, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf expressed hope that Barzani's visit to Tehran would lead to stronger economic and cultural cooperation between Iraq and Iran. 

Ghalibaf pointed to the effectiveness of negotiations between Iran and the delegation from the Kurdistan Region over the political and security cooperation and stressed the use of the available capacities to elevate the cooperation in industrial, agricultural, technological, and academic areas. 

Nechirvan Barzani, for his part, referred to the ebbs and flows of the relations between the Iraqi Kurdistan Region and Iran which could be handled through proper management and that efforts are made to improve the level of economic relations between the two sides.  

He referred to his meeting with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution on Monday and told Ghalibaf that a new chapter of relations between the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and the Islamic Republic would be opened.

The Head of Iraq's Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani arrived in Tehran on Monday on an official visit and met with the Iranian senior officials including the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei, President Ebrahim Raisi, and Foreign Minister Hossein Ami-Abdollahian.
