Iran Press/Asia: In a statement by Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, Pakistan stressed that its strategic capabilities are designed to safeguard its sovereignty and maintain peace and stability in South Asia. The newly imposed sanctions, according to Pakistan, undermine the goal of peace and security by exacerbating military imbalances. Such measures, they argue, pose serious risks to the strategic stability of the region and beyond.
Furthermore, the statement highlights that Pakistan's strategic program is considered a sacred trust, conferred by its 240 million citizens upon their leaders. This trust, revered across the political landscape, must remain inviolable.
"We also regret the imposition of sanctions on private commercial entities. Similar listings of commercial entities in the past were based on mere doubts and suspicion without any evidence whatsoever. While claiming strict adherence to non-proliferation norms, licensing requirement for advanced military technology to other countries have been waived off in the past", mentioned in the statement.
The Foreign Office criticized these double standards and discriminatory practices, arguing that they not only erode the credibility of non-proliferation regimes but also jeopardize both regional and global peace and security.
