Pakistan (IP)- The Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and the Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan was arrested Wednesday which throttle the PTI followers, and a nationwide protest was started in the afternoon today.

Iran PressAsia: Imran Khan appeared in the court Wednesday in Islamabad to face corruption allegations and his arrest was the major twist in the political scenario of Pakistan.

Although minor protests were staged in the past, in the highly secured residential areas of military officials somehow Wednesday after the high-profile arrest the angry supporters of Imran Khan entered the residence of Corps Commander Lahore, it never happened in the past.

On the other hand, protesters in Rawalpindi the twin city of Islamabad, the angry protestors tried to protest in some other sensitive areas somehow air shots from the law enforcement agencies didn’t let the protestors get closer yet the protest in different areas of Rawalpindi still going on by blocking roads and burning rubber tires. In some places, the protestors shunted slogans against Pakistani military officials which was stopped by some local leadership present at the spot.

Major protests were observed in the largest city of Pakistan, Karachi as well. The angry mob blocked the major roads of the city and shunted slogans against the arrest of Mr. Imran Khan. PTI supporters burned a police van, and a few bikes, and a picket of Sindh Police was also set on fire.

A local informed us that a few looters also joined the protests in Karachi and took advantage of the situation. Somehow law enforcement agencies took control of major protest areas. A few hours ago, a close friend of Imran Khan and the ex-Federal Minister of Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Zaidi was arrested from his vehicle while he was accompanied by some friends.  Zaidi is the President of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Sind province as well. After his arrest, the angry followers of PTI started protesting in small groups in different areas of Karachi.

The situation in the other Provinces Balochistan and KPK is not much different than the rest of the country. In Quetta, the capital city of Balochistan during an angry encounter the law enforcement agencies used more power which resulted in one protestor dead and almost 20 injured. In KPK province the mob blocked the Peshawar-Islamabad motorways and disconnected the KPK from the capital city. While in another city of KPK, Bannu, the mob tried to enter the Cantt area and set the main gate on fire, from the security personnel the air fires later scattered the mob. In another area of KPK, Malakand 13 protestors were brought to the hospital after the use of power by security agencies and police, later an injured named Zakir expired.

In all the major cities, under Section 144 the gathering of more than 5 people is unlawful, so it provides a legal way to arrest the protestors. In Islamabad the capital, likewise other cities no major protest was observed as the sources informed the Police Chief of Islamabad is already known as a supporter of the recent government and already was alleged by PTI supporters. In the past many PTI supporters were arrested in Islamabad and it was said all the actions were taken on the order of Police Chief Mr. Akbar Khan to weaken the crowd which appeared to protect Mr. Imran Khan appearing in the court last time.

Since evening in all major cities, the internet shutdown was reported while the telecom authorities has announced No Service for social media platforms like Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook in Pakistan up till the next announcement while 4G services are already broken. Unbiased social media activists have risen their voices against such strict policies as social media platforms are more famous than TV or radio nowadays in Pakistan.

Wednesday Khan will appear in court again and most probably the Law enforcement agencies (National Accountability Bureau) will request the court to issue a few days' remand (police custody) to investigate the corruption charges on Ex-Prime Minister and the Chairman PTI Imran Khan. The arrest of the mob will be also started by tonight in different cities after their identity, sources claimed.
