A CNG tanker lost control on the Abuja-Keffi highway at Karu bridge, trapping cars and their occupants. The resulting fire immediately engulfed several vehicles, with occupants unable to escape.

According to information gathered by Iran Press correspondent in Nigeria, from January 2009 to March 2025, there were at least 171 fuel tanker accidents that led to the death of over 1,643 people. In October 2024, Iran Press reported the death of over 150 people in a tanker explosion in Jigawa State in the North Western of the country.
