Iran Press/Iran news: In the 41st session of UN Human Rights Council held on Wednesday, the Iranian envoy to the UN European office Esmail Baghaee Hamane criticized the continuation of wide violation of human rights due to unilateral economic sanctions and stressed that a great number of countries in the South were suffering from sanctions.
Pointing out to the violation of millions of people's basic rights, including their jobs, lives, and health rights, Baghaee Hamane described such unilateral sanctions as an economic war which was being waged, Iran Press reported.
He also slammed US unilateral sanctions, noting that Washington must be responsible for its illegal sanctions against countries as well as its inhuman and criminal policies towards humanity.
The Iranian envoy went on to criticise the Israeli regime's violation of Palestinians' rights.
Baghaee Hamane also stressed the accountability of countries exporting arms to Saudi Arabia, and called on international courts of law to prosecute those countries which had invaded Yemen and committed war crimes in that country.
The 41th session of UN Human Rights Council began on 24 June in Geneva, Switzerland and will continue for three weeks. 215/211/213
