Iran Press/ Asia: India's Foreign Ministry said on Saturday that 28,523 Indian workers have died in the Persian Gulf Arab States over the past five years.
According to the ministry report, over 20,000 Indian workers have died in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) during the period, Times of India reported.
India Foreign Ministry Advisor, VK Singh, said in a written reply to the parliament that 12,882 Indian workers have died in Saudi Arabia from 2014 to 2018.
He added that during the period 7,877 Indian workers also died in the United Arab Emirates.
About 3 million Indian citizens live in Saudi Arabia.
Violence and mistreatment of foreign workers by Saudi employers has been a constant source of concern for Indian families.
