Iran Press/ Iran News: Commenting on the attack on the Iranian oil tanker SABITI near the Saudi port of Jeddah on Friday 11 October, foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said according to reliable information received, the attack on the Iranian oil tanker was carried out by one or more governments.
Speaking on Tuesday Zarif said: "A thorough investigation is underway and we will not accuse any government of involvement in the attack until the investigation is complete and we have accurate information about the perpetrators of the attack."
According to Zarif, the attack was a complex operation carried out with the support of a government (or governments).
On Friday morning 11 October, an Iranian oil tanker, SABITI, was attacked in the Red Sea off the coast of Saudi Arabia. The incident took place at 01:50 GMT about 95km (60 miles) off the coast of Saudi Arabia, near the port city of Jeddah. There were no reports of injuries as a result of the attack, but oil did spill into the Red Sea.
