Iran Press/Iran news: Reacting to US National Security Adviser John Bolton's meddling remarks, Ali Shamkhani said in a short statement on Friday that all countries which signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) are eligible to enrich uranium and this right cannot be taken away or be denied to any country.
"The Americans did not have such an interpretation of the NPT, but Iran forced them to admit it and then they participated in the negotiations," Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council noted, according to an Iran Press report.
"Admitting Iran's right to enrich uranium was Tehran's condition for entering the negotiations so it was not the result of that. The 5+1 group in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) has conceded and admitted Iran's right to enrich uranium," Ali Shamkhani added.
"The United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231 made Iran's right to enrich uranium an international reality, and a binding document for all the countries of the world," Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council said.
"Bolton's rejection of Iran's right to enrich uranium shows that the country's reciprocal step to incrementally reduce its commitments to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is the only way to confront a country (US) which does not obey any commitment," Shamkhani concluded by saying. 101/211/201
