Tehran (IP) - The Interior Minister of Iran says the recent border clash with Afghanistan was sparked because of the Taliban's misunderstanding.

Iran PressIran News: The tensions in the Dogharoun border area escalated as the Taliban forces began to construct a road near the border. Providing customs services at the border area was stopped temporarily after the tensions.

In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Thursday, Ahmad Vahidi said that Iran-Afghanistan main border crossing witnessed brief clashes, but after talking with the Taliban officials, they issued the "necessary instructions" to prevent such misunderstandings from happening again.

Vahidi stressed that there were no problems at the Afghanistan-Iran border at the moment.

The Interior Minister added: "Our recommendation is exactly that both Taliban officials in Kabul and local officials should take care of the border issues, so if there is any ambiguity, they must request to set meetings to be held and the necessary evaluation be done attached by technical reasons and documents."

Afghanistan's Taliban and Iran confirmed that clashes had broken out between the Iranian and Afghan border forces at the Dogharoun border cross.

Dogharoun crossing is located 18 kilometers off the eastern Iranian border with Afghanistan.

There have been some incidents at the border since the Taliban seized control of Afghanistan last year. An Iranian foreign ministry official in January said that the reason for an earlier incident of clashes between Iranian forces and the Taliban was a lack of professional conduct by the latter.
