Iran Press/ Iran news: The US administration on Monday desperately imposed new sanctions on nine Iranian individuals and one entity on the 40th anniversary of embassy seizure by the Iranian students.
"As we have repeatedly stated before, such measures only show the plight and helplessness of this regime, which does not know how to use rational diplomacy mechanisms", Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said, condemning the sanctions and noting their futility.
Mousavi also called the White House's statement on the anniversary of the day of Aban 13. (November 4) outrageous, adding: "The White House has always tried to keep open a case resolved nearly 40 years ago under the Algerian agreements between the two governments of Iran and the US by distorting facts and history."
"The US government cannot use such rhetoric to conceal its crimes against the Iranian nation through theft, looting, murder and economic terrorism and replace the killer and the victim," the spokesman said.
Mousavi concluded: "What the US government attributes to Iran is, by the way, the request of the Iranian nation and most of the nations of the world to the White House. While renouncing terrorism, the US government must stop supporting the Zionist Regime's state terrorism, foreign piracy, economic terrorism, and other abnormal behaviors, taking a civilized, rational and lawful way."
The Trump administration abruptly declared in 2018 its unilateral withdrawal from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), also known as Iran nuclear deal, and re-imposed its illegal unilateral sanctions against Iran.
