Tehran (IP) - The Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) says the body has a practical road map to localize the country's nuclear plants.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking on the sidelines of the cabinet session on Wednesday, Mohammad Eslami told Iran Press that the road map to localize the nuclear plants was among the strategic measures taken last year in line with the implementation of the country's 20-year document of development.

Eslami said that the whole supply chain in the construction of nuclear plants and the processing of the raw materials have been identified, which has led to a practical scheme to develop domestic plants.

"As the first step, the construction of the Karun Power Plant has begun and contracts have been concluded for the construction of its parts and equipment," he reported.

He also pointed to a new achievement in the AEOI, that is the production of yellow cake out of phosphate, which is added to the radioactive sources.

Earlier, the scientist managed to produce Thorium in the organization, which will be used in the small reactors, the AEOI head added.
